As part of our mission to advance adequate monitoring of surface
waters to drive water resource management, MBI offers a number
of training classes aimed at professional water quality staff and
scientists. Broad areas of training include:
- Biological monitoring methods for fish and macroinvertebrates
- Development and use of biocriteria and relationships to Water Quality Standards
- Use of biological and habitat data to perform Use Attainability Analyses (UAAs)
- Habitat assessment using the Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (QHEI)
- Use of biological data to perform stressor identification analyses

- Two-Day Biocriteria and QHEI Habitat Assessment Training
- Five-Day Credible Data (Biological and Habitat) Training
- Five-Day Volunteer Action Program (Biological and Habitat)
Most of these training classes have been conducted in cooperation
with Ohio EPA, but we have also traveled to other states (e.g., IN,
IL, WI) to perform such training.
